This guide explains the roll sizes we offer, what each width is best suited for and how to decide which to keep at your packing station.
All our roll sizes at a glance
Every bubble wrap roll we sell is 100 m long. What changes is the width, the number of layers and the colour.
| Product | Widths available | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Transparent single layer | 0.2 m, 0.25 m, 0.33 m, 0.5 m, 1 m | 100 m |
| Transparent double layer | 0.25 m, 0.33 m, 0.5 m, 1 m | 100 m |
| Black bubble wrap (single or double layer) | 1 m | 100 m |
On the 1 m width, the transparent single layer roll comes in two grades: Standard, at 4.5 kg per roll, and Premium, at 5 kg per roll. The 1 m transparent double layer roll is 6 kg.
Roll weight is worth knowing for two reasons. First, it gives you a sense of how much material you are getting: on rolls of the same size, a heavier roll has more film in every metre. Second, it helps when you plan storage and handling, since wide rolls are bulkier to move around the warehouse than narrow ones.
Narrow rolls: 0.2 m and 0.25 m
Narrow rolls are made for small items and fast, repetitive wrapping. They are easy to handle, fit neatly on a desk or small packing table, and cut down on offcuts when your products are compact.
- Small accessories, cosmetics and skincare bottles.
- Phone accessories, small gadgets and spare parts.
- Wrapping the neck or handle of an item for extra protection.
- Home-based sellers with limited space.
The 0.2 m width is available in transparent single layer. The 0.25 m width is available in both transparent single and double layer, which is useful if you pack small but fragile items.
Mid-size rolls: 0.33 m and 0.5 m
These are the all-rounders. They are wide enough to wrap a good range of everyday products in one or two turns, but still easy to handle on a standard packing table.
- Glassware, mugs and ceramics.
- Books, framed pictures and boxed products.
- Small appliances and electronics.
- Mixed orders where product sizes vary.
Both widths are available in transparent single and double layer. If you only want to stock one width for a varied product range, a mid-size roll is often the most practical starting point.
The 0.5 m roll in particular gives you room to wrap larger items without needing a full-width roll, while the 0.33 m roll is a comfortable step up from the narrow sizes for sellers whose products are a little bigger than small accessories.
Wide rolls: 1 m
The 1 m width is the most versatile. It is the choice for large items, and it can also be cut down into sheets of whatever size you need, which makes it popular with warehouses, factories and movers.
- Furniture, mirrors and large framed items.
- Machine parts, panels and large finished goods.
- Lining cartons or wrapping several items together.
- Cutting custom sheets for products of different sizes.
The 1 m width is the only size that comes in every option: transparent single layer (Standard or Premium), transparent double layer, and black bubble wrap in single or double layer. If you want black wrap for smaller items, simply cut the 1 m roll to the size you need.
How to choose the right width
A few practical steps will help you settle on the right size:
- Measure your most common products. Look at the items you pack most often, not the occasional large order.
- Allow for wrapping around. The width should comfortably cover the length of the item, with enough extra to overlap the ends or fold them over.
- Think about your workspace. Narrow rolls suit small tables and tight spaces. Wide rolls need more room but handle bigger jobs.
- Consider cutting versus convenience. A 1 m roll can be cut to any size, but a narrower roll that matches your products saves time on every parcel.
- Match the layer to the risk. Once you know the width, choose single or double layer based on how fragile the item is.
If you are unsure about layers, read single vs double layer bubble wrap. If privacy matters, see clear vs black bubble wrap.
Stocking more than one size
Many businesses find it helpful to keep two widths on hand: a narrow or mid-size roll for everyday small orders, and a 1 m roll for larger items and cutting custom pieces. This avoids wasting wide wrap on small products, while making sure you are never stuck when a big order comes in.
Because every roll is 100 m long, it is easy to plan how many rolls you need and to keep a steady supply for busy periods.
A roll dispenser or a simple rod mounted above the packing table makes any width easier to use. Pull off what you need, cut it cleanly, and the rest of the roll stays neat and ready for the next order. Keep rolls off the floor and away from sharp edges so the bubbles are not crushed before you use them.
Whichever width you choose, good technique still matters. Our guides to how to wrap fragile items and storing and reusing bubble wrap will help you get the most from every roll.
